Harare – Zimbabwean karateka Wilfred Mashaya’s stock continues to rise after the multi-award winner landed a big role in an action-packed film set to premiere next month.
The martial arts Hall of Famer will be one of the lead actors in Vicious Circle.
Mashaya has taken the world of martial arts by storm where his top kobudo skills have won him several international prizes and awards.
Vicious Circle was written by Steven Mutsago and directed by Ignatius Matope.
An excited Mashaya said: “It feels good to be called in to partake in such a huge initiative. It’s a big honour and it brings new challenges for me. I am over the moon.
“Of course, I am a sportsperson who has tried to defy some odds here and there and who is still striving to do even better but I couldn’t let go of this opportunity.
“To be involved in action films is certainly one thing every kobudo star can dream of. It’s the ultimate.
“And it has come just at the right time for me. It is something I had in mind from the day I introduced myself in the world of kobudo.
“I really love action movies and to be a huge part in it is a dream come true. This is only the beginning, I am going to be involved in more and more films in the region and beyond.”
Mashaya and more than 40 members of his Zim-Ninja Academy have taken part in several international virtual tournaments, hauling over 100 medals combined.
