Harare – It keeps getting better for mercurial Zambian soccer striker Patson Daka in Austria’s Bundesliga.
Daka, the star man at Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian top-flight, has been voted the Player of the Month for April by the Austria Sky Sports community. This is Daka’s third straight Player of the Month accolade and his fourth in the last seven months.
The 22-year-old dominated the poll with over 65 percent of the vote ahead of first runner-up Manprit Sarkaria, who had almost 22 percent, and Marco Grüll, who came in third with about eight percent.
Daka scored four times for his club in April, making it almost certain that he would be voted the best player in the league in that month.
The clinical Daka has been so deadly in front of goal that he has attracted the attentions of several top clubs in Europe, included reported inquiries from Tottenham Hotspur in the cash-rich English Premier Leage.
Daka has netted 24 goals and chipped in with three assists in 25 games in the Bundesliga, helping his club to effectively seal a UEFA Champions League spot for next season.
In his reaction to being named Player of the Month yet again on microblogging platform Twitter, Daka said “You can’t get more appreciation than this. To be voted for by fans and peers, that’s ultimate really. I am truly humbled and honoured by this award. Thanks again.”
