Harare - Shekhinah Donnell who performed at a sold out concert here recently said she was pleased to be in Zimbabwe "the most talked country in Africa”.

Speaking ahead of her debut appearance in Harare where she headlined the “Unplugged Concert,” the “Suited” hitmaker said she had always wanted to perform in Zimbabwe.

“It’s beautiful out here and I’m pleased to be in Zimbabwe, the most talked about country in Africa.

“The energy is great and I am looking forward to returning for another concert,” Shekhinah said in reference to the just ended harmonised elections.

Shekhinah, who turns 24 next month, shared some insights into her love life and music.

“I’m a free spirit and between Rihanna and Beyonce, I’d choose Rihanna because she has that let go attitude,” she said.

Asked if she loved booze, Shekhinah confirmed she wasn’t much of a drinker but did not mind having one or two drinks to lighten up the mood.

She explained further when asked the inspiration behind the song "Suited".

“It’s a beautiful love song that I wrote after what happened to me and my boyfriend. It was all lovey-dovey and I thought why not write a song about people that are loving each other so it is basically about my love story.”

Shekhinah performed before a sell-out crowd of over 3 000 fans at ZB Sports Club.

And she didn’t disappoint a bit.

Although her set was short, she wowed the crowd with an electric set at the monthly edition of Unplugged music concerts.

This is understandable for an artiste as talented as Shekhinah who studied a degree in live performance.

The show peaked with each song and the crowd sang along to the music like they owned the songs.

She performed at least five tracks including "Different", "Back to the Beach", "Your Eyes" and "Let You Know".

Another thing which made her show exceptionally great was that her crowd control was amazing and she felt a lot like home.

Shekhinah left the best for last and sealed off her top drawer act with the anthem "Suited".

Only two weeks ago, another South African artiste Nasty C drew thousands to a charity benefit concert held in Harare.

The former South African Idols finalist has proved her mettle in the cutthroat music industry where she has literally charmed music lovers not only in the region but across the globe with her soothing and unmistakable voice.

Her debut album dropped on October 6, 2017 under Sony Music Entertainment Africa in digital download format.

Shekhinah has also done several associated features with DJ Slique and Black Coffee, one of the sought after deep house producer and DJ.

Also part of the bill were Buhle, Magitare Live and DJs line up of Reverb 7, TK Beat and Trill Angel.

Unplugged Zimbabwe is proudly sponsored by Coca-Cola, ZB Bank and Nyaradzo Funeral Services. Show goers also won free Coca-Cola and other prizes.
