Windhoek – With most tennis circuits in Southern Africa on ice, a feast in being served up in Namibia thanks to Trustco’s sponsorship of junior competitions.

Last weekend, the Trustco NTA Junior Tournament lit up Windhoek, with organisers saying the lull in senior competition created an opportunity to nurture young talent and give it the spotlight.

In a statement after the tourney, Trustco highlighted that the essence of the NTA Junior Tournament was to provide a foundation for upcoming players, while also acting as a curtain raiser for senior competitions to follow.

“The Trustco NTA Juniors Tournament served as a great precursor for the upcoming Trustco NTA Junior Masters Tournament. This upcoming annual tournament, the pinnacle for junior tennis talent in the country, is scheduled for 30-31 October, 2020,” Trustco said.

In the Trustco NTA Junio Tournament, rising Namibian stars Daniel Jauss and Taimi Nashiku continued with their good form by winning the boys and girls Under-18 singles titles respectively.

A total of 94 players entered the tournament, including competitors from Walvis Bay and Swakopmund.

It was held under COVID-19 health protocols with spectators required to keep face masks on and observe social distancing guidelines. Players and officials audience in their masks and sanitisers all over.
