Windhoek - Namibian fashionista Reinhard Mahalie has scooped the African Male Fashion Stylist of the Year award at the Designer Awards Africa, held last weekend in Lagos, Nigeria.
Designer Awards Africa recognises creatives from across the continent who consistently push boundaries and take the industry to new horizons.
This year the awards' theme was “Heroes”.
Competing against designers from fellow Southern African nations, such as Mpumelolo King Mavasa of South Africa, the Zambian duo of Chi Ngulube and Peter Mwanze, and Malawian trendsetter Khalifa Garciaali, as well as Swanky Jerry from Nigeria, Mahalie came oput tops in the category, sending Namibia’s social media into frenzy.
“Namibia, Africa, world! It’s humbling to announce that I am Designer Awards Africa African Male Fashion Stylist of the Year 2020 recipient. A small-town boy who graced from the dusty streets of Keetmanshoop, is now one of Africa’s renowned fashion stylist,” Mahalie said.
