Windhoek – Namibia international and Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile has been crowned the Sundowns Supporters’ Player of the Month for December for his influential performances for the South African football club at the close of 2020.
The 27-year-old former Tura Magic player, who joined the Brazilians from Highlands Park at the end of last season, is having a dream campaign at his new home.
“Congratulations to Peter Shalulile for being crowned the Sundowns Supporters’ Player of the Month for December. Our striker will get to drive a Hyundai KONA for the next month,” wrote Sundowns on its Twitter handle.
Sundowns sponsors Hyundai showered Salulile with praises and rewards for his sterling performances.
“Peter Shalulile has won the hearts of the supporters and gets to drive off in the Hyundai Kona as the Sundowns Supporters’ Player of the Month … Shapa, Shalulile, shapa!” wrote Hyundai South Africa on Twitter.
Shalulile spent five years at Highlands Park between 2015 and 2020, scoring 29 goals in 85 appearances. Last season the striker finished as the league’s joint-top goal scorer with 16 goals alongside Orlando Pirates marksman Gabadinho Mhango.
The speedy and versatile striker started his professional career at Tura Magic, where he was nurtured in the academy before being promoted to the senior team. He went on to establish himself as one of the most lethal players in Namibia before crossing over to the lucrative South African Premier Soccer League.
Mamelodi Sundowns are the defending league champions and current log leaders after going unbeaten in the first 12 matches of the season (seven wins, five draws), leaving them on 26 points, one ahead of Swallows FC who have a game in hand.
On his part, Shalulile has found the back of the net four times in the league this season, as well as one goal in the CAF Champions League.
