Harare – Namibia Brave Warriors star Lazarus Kaimbi's presence at Malaysian top-flight side PDRM FC has helped new recruit, Zimbabwe Warriors midfielder Victor Kamhuka, to quickly settle.
The two have clicked easily on the field, and off the field they have become fast friends.
The Malaysian Premiership is scheduled to start on March 5 and the two are keen to write a unique piece of history.
If they win the league title with PDRM, they will become the first two players from two different Southern African countries to do so not only in Malaysia, but outside Africa.
So determined are they that they have been putting in extra hours at training after official sessions are over.
Kamhuka arrived in Malaysia a fortnight ago after a one-year stint in Myanmar, and he is already one of the players being touted to help transform the club, largely due to his work ethic and his chemistry with Kaimbi.
The Zimbabwean, who is establishing himself as a regular for the national team, is quick to thank his Namibian counterpart for all his help in Malaysia.
Kamhuka said, "I just arrived at the club without any knowledge of who was there. I was very happy after learning that there was two Africans in the team, Kaimbi and Amphosah Alexander of Ghana. We have told each other of the importance of hard work. The league in Malaysia is very professional and we also need to be professional. We will fight tooth and nail to help our club.
"Kaimbi and Amphosah have helped me settle well at the club and I know we will click even in the field of play. Our mission is the same. We need to conquer the league. We are always encouraging each other to remain focused."
The Malaysian Premiership was cancelled mid-way through the last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
