Nam records 9 new COVID-19 cases

Windhoek-Namibian Minister of Health and Social Services Kalumbi Shangula has confirmed that the country has recorded 9 new cases of COVID-19.

Five of the cases were announced on Tuesday evening and Four on Wednesday morning.

Case No. 68 is a 41 year-old Namibian woman from Walvis Bay. No known contacts with a confirmed case. She was swabbed on 20 June as part of the active case search. She had COVID-19 signs and symptoms at the time of swabbing.

Case No. 69 is a 45- year old Namibian woman from Walvis Bay and no known contact with a confirmed case.

Case No. 70 is a 59 -year old Namibian woman and no known contact with a confirmed case.

 

Case No. 71 is a 42- year old Namibian woman from Walvis Bay. No known contact with confirmed case. She is part of the active case search.

Case No. 72 is a 51- year old Namibian man from Walvis Bay. He has no known contact with a confirmed case as he is part of the active search. He did not experience COVID-19 related signs and symptoms.

Wednesday morning cases are case No. 73, a 46 -years old female of Indian nationality who travelled to Namibia on Wednesday and got quarantined in Windhoek. She did not have signs or symptoms consistent COVID-19.

Case No. 74 is a 30-years old female of Indian nationality who travelled to Namibia. She was placed in quarantine in Windhoek.

Case No. 75 is a 19- years-old female of Indian nationality who travelled to Namibia Wednesday. She was placed in quarantine in Windhoek. She did not have any COVID-19 related signs or symptoms at the time she was tested.

Case No. 76 is a 21 year old Namibian male from South Africa on the 29th May 2020.He was laced in quarantine in Windhoek. He is a contact to case 27, 28 and 29.He had COVID-19 symptoms which did resolve. The initial swabbing which was done on the 30the May 2020 came out negative. He was re-swabbed on the 21st June 2020.The results came out positive on the 23 June 2020.

All cases are in satisfactory conditions

 

So far Namibia stands at 76 confirmed cases, 21 recoveries, 55 active cases and 0 deaths recorded. Total samples tested are 7 740 and 684 people are in quarantine.
