Nam records 9 more COVID-19 cases

Windhoek-Namibian Minister of Health and Social Services Kalumbi Shangula on Sunday announced that the country has 9 new COVID-19 cases which have brought the total number cases to 55, with19 recoveries and 36 active cases.

No death has been recorded.

Case number 47 is a 28 –year old from Walvis Bay. She had general body pain and back pain. She has no travel history.

Case No 48 is a 2 year -old male Namibian from Walvis Bay, who came in contact with case number 35.He had flu-like symptoms at the time of swabbing.

Case number 49 is a 28 year- old female Namibian from Walvis Bay, travelled from India without any known contacts. She had no COVID-19 related symptoms.

Case No 50 is a 28 years- old female of foreign Nationality Indian, a wife to a business man, on work permit, travelled from India via South Africa and arrived in Namibia on the 17 June, in quarantine at Gross Barmen. She does not have COVID-19 symptoms and no known contact with a confirmed case.

Case No 51 is a 36 year- old female Namibian from Walvis Bay. She has not been in contact with a confirmed case. She had symptoms characterized by loss of smell and body weakness.

Case No 52 years-old Namibian female from Walvis Bay. She had no COVID -19 symptoms and no known contact with a confirmed case.

Case No 53 is a 56 years-old Namibian male From Walvis Bay and a contact of case number 35, he had flu-like symptoms at the time of Swabbing.

Case No 54 is a 21 year-old Namibian male from Walvis Bay. He had COVID-19 symptoms characterized by cough and sore throat.

Case No 55 is a 65 years old female South African who lives in Namibia. Travelled from South Africa on the 18 June 2020.She does not have COVID-19 cases symptoms and no known contact to a confirmed case.

All nine cases are in good clinical conditions. Seven cases are from Walvis Bay with three from the same family. Namibia has tested 7 009 samples in total and 700 people in quarantine.
