Windhoek – Former World Boxing Association (WBA) Champion, Paulus “Hitman” Moses will fight former International Boxing Organisation World Champion Immanuel “The Gameboy” Tagoe in Accra, Ghana on 20 October for the vacant WBO Africa Lightweight title.
Speaking at a media conference to announce the fight on Tuesday, Moses said contrary to popular belief that he is old, he still felt he can get a shot at another world title.
“I am ready for 20 October and I already started preparing for this fight. I never take a fight to lose, I only aim for a win. Always expect a good fight from me,” he said.
Moses, who is currently ranked ninth by the WBO, said if he beats Tagoe in Ghana, he will improve his ranking to four or five, which will push him closer to fighting for a world title.
With regards to his age, Moses said people can have their own assumptions, saying he was going through a natural evolution just like anyone on this earth.
“Those younger than me will say I am old. Those older than me will say I am young. No one can change that,” said Moses.
Moses boasts a record of 40 fights, 36 wins (25 of those via knockout), four loses, while Tagoe has won 28 fights (14 knockouts) and one lose.
Moses (40) is 11 years older that Tagoe (29).
Moses’ manager, Nestor Tobias said after his boxer’s last fight in the United States of America with Raymundo Beltran, he rejected any thoughts of retiring.
“Hitman is a world class fighter. He is still strong and ready to fight. We have studied his opponent and we are ready. We know what he has done for the country and everyone wants a piece of Moses now,” he said.
He added that they had rejected a lot of offers because they did not fit into their plans for the boxer.
Moses last fought in February where he lost on unanimous decision to Beltran in Reno, Nevada. Nampa
