Mannetti concerned over Zambia threat

Windhoek - Brave Warriors head coach, Ricardo Mannetti said their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Zambia is one of the biggest hurdles in their route to qualify for the continental showpiece.
Namibia will play Zambia in Windhoek on September 7, 2018, in their second AFCON qualifier match after losing 1-0 to Guinea Bissau last year.
Mannetti told the media on Tuesday during the announcement of his pre-season training squad that winning against Zambia will put the country in a position that is closer to qualifying for the 2019 AFCON.
“This is a do or die game. I would like to have all the top players in the team as this is a massive game and there is a lot of pressure because everyone will expect this team to win and the supporters will want the team to also qualify for the African Cup,” he said.
The coach added that he will not lie to his players to take the game against Zambia easy.
“You don’t expect me as the coach to take it easy. It will be such a hot-pressure game, that is why I went for players that can deal with Mannetti because I will give them pressure and I will take the pressure when need be,” he said.
Namibia is bottom of Group K alongside Zambia who also have zero points on third position. Mozambique are top of the group and Guinea Bissau are second but levelled on three points after a game each.
Mannetti stated that playing Zambia is one of their biggest headaches because they will also come firing in all cylinders in a bid to get points on the board.
“I know Zambia has a new coach and they are also looking for the three points when they come here and if you have players in the team who can’t take pressure, then we are in a big problem,” Mannetti said.
The 2019 AFCON is slated for Cameroon from June 7 to 30. – Nampa
