Windhoek- Ladies do not spoil summer with melting make-up, smeared eyeliners or smudged lipsticks.

The same way you change your winter wardrobe to suit summer, should be the same way you change your facial make-up, from the heavy one worn in winter to light make-up for the hot season.

Of course summer is a season where ladies love matching from their outfits to the make-up and accessories, but there is a need to maintain a fresh pretty look.

The Southern Times garnered tips from experts of ensuring a fresh pretty, shiny free face in hot weather.

Oily facial skins, wrong foundation and cream, stimulates melted make-up and it is important for one to use the appropriate anti-shiny facial products for the relevant skin type.

Blessing Manyumwa a makeup artist based in South Africa also known as Tsikyrae has urged women to use primers, which are used to hold facial make-up throughout the day.

Primers are like waterproof mascara that keeps the make-up intact despite the harsh weather.

“It is essential for ladies to know their skin type and use products suitable for their skin type. If one has an oily skin, she needs to go for the products which caters for oily skin and keep the skin free from oil,” said Tsikyrae.

She said facial make-up melting normally occurs when one applies a facial foundation that contrasts with the skin type.

“There are different skin tones which are need to be maintained by different type and shades of facial foundation and ladies are advised to be conscious of them.  If one is dark and uses lighter foundation for her skin, when she sweats the foundation may end up appearing like a mask especially in hit weathers.  However, one can get away with it in winter.”

During hot weathers, women are advised to use light layers of foundation to get rid of the heaviness on the facial skin that causes that one causes one to sweat visibly.

Before applying the make-up foundation, it is also important for one to apply lotion or cream that complements her skin time.

For instance, an oily facial skin requires cream that dries up the skin, such products are known as ‘oil free’.

Oil free products ranges from make-up removers, cleansers, facial scrubs to facial forms and these ought to be used for a shiny free face in summer.

There are women who sweat a lot around the eye area and considering the fact that facial foundation cannot be applied on the eye lips.

Ladies are advised to apply nude eye shadows or if they are colourful shadows they need to be freshened.

Wearing sunglasses also protects the eyelid area from having a direct contact with the sunrays and prevents them from sweating.  Others prefer to wear sunhats that protects the face from direct sun exposure.

Summer time is a season of lipsticks that clings on the lips even after a meal, such lipsticks includes the lip stain types.
