THE SouthernTIMES Mar 19, 2018

Walter ‘The Executioner’ Kautondokwa is now rated third in the world by the World Boxing Organisation (wbo) after moving three places up on the ratings released on Monday.

A media statement availed to this news agency by the MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing and Fitness Academy said other boxers from the academy also improved their ratings.

Mike Shonena, who made his WBO rating debut just last month, improved his rating from number 15 to 14.

Shonena is expected to step into the ring on 20 March to defend his WBO Welterweight title as part of the Legacy Fight event to be hosted at Ramatex in Windhoek.

The media release added that Paulus ‘The Hitman’ Moses is now rated number 10, which is a clear demonstration of how highly acclaimed and respected he is after recently losing to Ray Beltran, albeit under controversial circumstances.

Jeremiah ‘Low-Key’ Nakathila also improved his rating from number 6 to number 5 in the Junior Lightweight division.

He will also step into the ring on 20 March to defend his WBO title.

Sakaria Lukas remains third in the Featherweight division.

“The new ratings show that we are making very good progress on the international boxing scene.

“Serious boxing is all about world ratings and if you are not rated, you can never fight for a serious world title,” the statement said.

It further added that if Kautondokwa continues to fight top-rated boxers, he will soon challenge current world champion Billy Joe Saunders.

Trainer and promoter Nestor Tobias in the statement said they are pushing for another Namibian boxer to fight for a world title before the end of the year. – NAMPA
