Musicians send their best wishes to Geingob
Southern Times Writer
President Hage Geingob, whose birthday is on August 3, is known for his love for music. He sang in a choir as a young man and was also part of a band. So it is only natural that musicians from across Namibia feel an affinity for the man beyond the fact that he is their Head of State and Government. As President Geingob celebrates his birthday this year, The Southern Times caught up with some musicians to hear what they had to say on the auspicious occasion.
"Happy Birthday Mr. President. My grandfather would always say that half the job is done simply because you want to do it. The remainder of the job is all you need to do. If ever you wanted anything good for Namibia, remind yourself that you wanted and still want to do it and to do it right, no matter the cost to yourself. 50 percent is 'will' and the remainder will fall in place."
Happy birthday President Geingob. I admire your passion for education and inclusivity. My birthday wish to you is good health. Mr President, please prioritise the arts and culture sector because that’s one of the sectors to uplift & transform Namibian youth in creating identity and fostering patriotism through their creativity. HBD Comrade President. We love you.
Namibian Annual Music Awards Artist of the Year, Lize Ehlers says: “Happy Birthday Mr. President. As a gift to yourself and to Namibia please make the government act responsibly and please do not forget that arts and education are the heart of the country.”
May you be blessed with many more years and keep doing the most, especially for young people that need the support
Happiest birthday to you our president, father, mentor, Namibian son. Be blessed with many years to enjoy your efforts in making Namibia a better country. You're the most determined, entertaining, focused leader I have ever seen in Namibia and the fact that you support the entertainment industry makes you extraordinary. Your efforts to develop Namibia, especially in this pandemic, is also recognised. We know it is not easy to govern a country, but you make it so effortless that people tend not to appreciate it. I still ask you to please continue your good governance and fight for implementing justice in our country and keep supporting our youths in outstanding initiatives to eradicate unemployment, poverty and these other problems that the country is exposed to. The entertainment industry is also part of this. Happy birthday our President, we acknowledge, respect and salute you.
