Africa Albida Tourism (AAT) group has completed $600 000 expansion of its luxurious Victoria Falls Safari Club to meet the growth in tourists’ influx in the resort town.

In a statement, AAT chief executive officer Ross Kennedy said the recent upgrading of the Victoria Falls International Airport and the new political dispensation have had a positive impact on tourist arrivals in Victoria Falls.

“There has been a clear growth in demand for Victoria Falls as a destination already witnessed in 2017 by an increase of over  25 percent in international arrivals, coupled with advance demands for 2018 and 2019,” said Kennedy.

He said the tourism boom being experienced in the country required hospitality companies to improve service to meet international standards.

“So it is clear that all of us in the industry need to be reviewing quality, service, hospitality and the facilities and activities we offer in order to meet that demand,” the AAT boss said.

Kennedy said major tourist destinations such as Victoria Falls needed operators who keep up with the latest tourism trends in order to keep up with other competitors.

“In the tourism sector, in a destination like Victoria Falls, operators need to respond to the market demand, keep abreast of trends and, equally important, keep in tune with competitor offerings.

“I believe at current growth rates, the new Victoria Falls Airport might be too small in three to five years, and as tourism and hospitality operators we need to be playing our part in investing in the future, while protecting the character and integrity of Victoria Falls.”

The newly developed Safari Club is located near the Victoria Safari Falls Lodge. It now has an additional swimming pool, sun-deck and gazebo.

Kennedy said the expansion of the boutique luxurious hotel has doubled the size of the club.

“The upgrade and expansion of Victoria Falls Safari Club’s central building doubled the size of its deck, creating a new restaurant with dedicated kitchen and increased the lounge space of the club.”

He said the newly developed swimming pool adds a fun factor to the developments at the new Victoria Falls Safari Club. The swimming pool area features a plunge pool with a horizontal waterfall spilling into a 15m lap pool, surrounded on two sides by a split-level deck with sun loungers, and a gazebo with a bar.
