Cape Town - Painted in joyous summer colours, the Stella Artois “Together Apart in the Life” mural in Sandton’s Nelson Mandela Square in South Africa is difficult not to see and once seen, impossible to forget.
Covering an area of 21m by 38m at the open-air piazza, the recently unveiled mural depicts a woman holding a colorful Eucharistic and welcoming people.
The people she is welcoming are seen in the reflection of her white framed sunglasses.
Several circles of different sizes are spaced distinctly apart to capture the new normal of social distancing, and the aptly still give the impression of being connected without being next to each other.
Vivid reds, blues, yellows and other colours bring out the beauty and harmony of diversity.
The mural is part of a Stella Artois global campaign related to socialisation during the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was localised by South African illustrator Lauren Mitchell.
