Harare – Red hot Brave Warriors striker Peter Shalulile has been nominated in all three individual categories in the South Africa Premier Soccer League awards after leading Mamelodi Sundowns to the title this season.
Shalulile scored 11 goals in the PSL, three behind Golden Boot winner Bradley Grobler of SuperSport United. He also scored four goals in the Nedbank Cup as Sundowns reached the semi-finals.
The Namibian star joined the Tswane giants at the start of the season from Highlands Park, and he has had a dream start to life with the big boys.
He is up for the PSL Footballer of the season, Players’ Player and Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament awards.
For the Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament award, Shalulile will battle it out with Zimbabwean goalkeeper Washington Arubi, who plays for the cup winners, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila. Arubi’s teammate Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo is also gunning for the same accolade.
Speaking about the Nedbank nomination, Arubi said “It is a tough race especially looking at the calibre of players who are in the race. You look at top talent like Shalulile and Ndlodhlo, they are top stars. But I am very much delighted to have been nominated. That means a lot for me.”
The winners will be announced next week.”
