Harare – The quests by Namibian boxers Nathaniel Kakololo and Jeremiah Nakathila to secure international titles came undone last weekend as they both lost their fights.
Kakololo wanted to be the next World Boxing Organisation Intercontinental featherweight champion, having challenged Ukrainian Oleg Malinovsky; while Nakathila took on American fighter Shakur Stevenson for the WBO interim junior lightweight belt.
Africa Boxing Union featherweight king Kakololo narrowly lost to the European champion via a majority decision on Saturday night. Two judges scored the fight 97-93 for Malinovsky while one called it a draw.
Malinovsky is now unbeaten in 25 fights, while Kakololo slumped to a second defeat in 14 professional fights.
Jeremiah “Low-Key” Nakathila lost a unanimous decision in his quest for the WBO interim junior lightweight belt.Despite pulling through all 12 rounds, Nakathila lost to Stevenson on Sunday morning with all judges giving it 120-107 to the American.
