Luanda – Southern Africa’s sole FIFA Futsal World Cup representatives, Angola, will need to be at their best if they are to make a mark in the competition that runs from September 12 to October 3 in Lithuania.
Angola has been drawn to face two-time world champions Spain, three-time Asian kings Japan and a tricky Paraguay in Group E.
This is Angola’s debut appearance in the global showcase, while the other African representatives at the tournament are Egypt and Morocco.
The Southern African nation qualified for the fiesta after finishing third at the 2020 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco between January and February last year. Egypt and Morocco were the runners-up and winners respectively, and the top three teams at the Africa Cup of Nations booked their places at the World Cup.
Morocco are in Group F along with the Solomon Island, Thailand and Portugal. On the other hand, Egypt, who will be competing at the World Cup for the seventh time, will battle it out against Uzbekistan, Guatemala and Russia in Group B.Futsal World Cup draw
